Getting Ready for Christmas

This is always a tough time of the year for those of us who are disabled and cannot get around to doing our own shopping. I love Christmas, especially decorating and wandering through the stores picking up those little surprise items here and there. That pleasure has been stolen from me and with it, so has my commercial enjoyment of this holiday. Now, I shop online, when I am feeling up to it, and just don't worry about finding deals. This is surprisingly tiring and those of you out there with any type of chronic illness can attest to the fatigue associated with any extended activity. I am still working my way down the list and Santa is doing OK but my husband often must run out if products are not available online because grandchildren, often change their minds as to what they want for Christmas.

I make sure that I am home for Christmas because it is more special now that my time is limited. Time is the gift that we give each other now, that perhaps we gave less before my accident when everyone was rushing around. Time for each other. Time to reflect on how lucky we are in the grand scheme of things. We have a roof over our heads, food on the table, clothing on our backs and even gasoline in our cars. That I would say means that the Lord has provided well for us again this year. Lets not remember to say Thank You, for all that he has given us especially the extra time that we have together.

Right now, JP is wrapping the gifts and how I wish that I could also wrap with him. But going downstairs at this time of night is almost a guarantee that the fire department would have to be called to get me back upstairs later on so I could get to bed. I hope that at some point I get to wrap at least 1 or 2 gifts so I can feel like a Christmas elf. :)

Cheers,

Jaxs
